Housewarming Gift

It's hot out here in Southern California!  Wow!  I'm hoping this is not an indication of what summer is going to be like.  On the upside, Jonas and I went on a hike this weekend and it was beautiful.  And now with the time change, I'm looking forward to walks and more hikes.

I gifted this chipboard album to a friend of mine as a housewarming gift.  I like how it came out.

 The album is five pages and I used paper that I bought at Costco a while ago.  I liked it because it has an antique and distressed look.  The tile look on the first page was time consuming!  I cut out scalloped strips with the Cricut Accent Essentials.  If I did it again, I would have used a larger size for the strips.

 

I tried to keep this album simple and I didn't include photo mats so my friend would have freedom on how she wanted to add her pictures.

I'm so happy to have used my Hero Arts stamps for the butterflies.  I'm always happy when I can incorporate stamping to my scrapbooking projects. I also used my Copic markers on the butterflies.  My friend loved the album.  It's always great to see people's reactions to scrapbook gifts.  Love it!

Happy Friday!!!

It's my favorite day of the week!  The first day of the weekend.  Love it when the clock strikes 3:30 pm and my weekend officially starts.  AND...Saturday is the OC Scrapbook Expo.  I'll be going with my Scrapbook Divas.  I'm looking forward to fun girl time and scrapbook shopping.

I finished the girly carriage shaped chipboard album.  It came out very cute!  The only bummer is that I couldn't find the coordinating DCWV embellishments to go with the paper.  Instead, I used buttons, flowers, and die cuts from the Cricut baby cartridge.  I also had a set of embellishments from Recollections.

I can't decide which album I like best...this one of the boy one I made two nights ago.  This album is listed for sale on my Etsy store.  I've got a few more ideas for albums up my sleeve, but those will have to wait.  I have another custom scrapbook order to work one...a Disney Cruise.  Should be a fun project.  I'll share layouts as I go along.

Boy Oh Boy!

Finally finished one of the baby carriage shaped chipboard albums that I've been working on.  Wow!  So cute!  I love it!  I wish I knew what sex my baby is going to be, but I have to wait about another month before we can find out.  Both the boy and the girl themed albums are coming out super cute.  I want both!

So cute, right?  Love this paper from Debbie Mumm.  It's textured and glittered.  The images are so adorable.  I also used Debbie Mumm stickers.  Each page has ribbon.  I also included buttons.  I used Recollections embellishments as well.  Oh, and I got my stamp on!  I bought a set of clear Cloud 9 baby stamps a while ago and I used them for this project.  I just posted this album for sale on my Etsy store.

I hope you are having a great week.  I've been having a better week at work.  It seems like overnight, my energy came back and I'm not as nauseas anymore.  I'm also having a great time checking out the Papertrey blog.  They are having their monthly reveal and they have some really cool stamps sets coming out this month.  Specifically, they have two baby themed stamp sets that I will be buying!  Well, I guess that depends on the damage I incur after the OC Scrapbook Expo this weekend...

Christmas Cards

I love receiving and sending Christmas cards, but I never know what to do with all those beautiful cards after the season is over.  I hate to throw them away!  For a few years, I would keep the cards and use them the following year as gift tags.  But now, most of the cards that we get are photo cards.  I saw this Christmas card holder on the Creating Keepsakes blogs and it was the answer to my dilemma!  A book to keep all your cards in!  Here is my version...

 It was easy and took no time at all to make.  I cut out the covers from chipboard...they measure 8"x6".  I figured that would be big enough to fit most cards.  I used a regular corner punch to round out the edges...it wasn't strong enough to cut through the chipboard, but it did leave marks.  I used a strong pair of scissors to cut off the edges.  I inked the edges with green ink and used my Crocodile to punch holes for the ring binders.  I accidentally punched the holes on the wrong end...so I put some ribbon though it and tied a bow.  Accidents happen!  I have to admit too that I papered the covers with a set of Christmas paper I found in the $1 section of Target.  Scrapbooking can be expensive so when you can find a deal...take it!  I cut out 2009 from the Mickey Font Cricut cartridge and then glittered it with a Stickles.  I cut out the tree from the Christmas Cheer cartridge and outlined with with a stickles.  I've already added some of my cards...here are pictures of the back of the front cover and the back cover.

 

 

Simple right?  And I really like how it came out...festive.  I hope you're Christmas preparations are going well.  I'm done with my Christmas shopping and Jonas went out this morning to do some of his...well, at least he's not waiting till Christmas Eve!

Christmas Shopping!

Excuse my absence from blogging...I'm officially on vacation and decided to take a small vacation from scrapbooking too.  You don't realize how much you've been going and going until you stop.  Whoa!  It's been nice to take a few days to do nothing!  And I'm mostly done with my Christmas shopping too.  Just a few more things and I'm done.  

So now that I'm in the swing of things, I'm going to share a chipboard album I made this morning as a Christmas gift for my husband.  Sshhhh...don't tell him!  As you know, we have two very large dogs.  And Jonas considers them his sons (to me they are just pets...I grew up on a farm...).  So I thought this would be a great gift idea for him to keep in his office.

I cut out large letters from the Disney Cricut Cartridge and then cut out each page from chipboard sheets.  I papered each page with DCWV Pet's Stack paper and inked the edges with a dark brown Cat's Eye.  I used three Craft n Craftin' Metal Style stickers for the front cover.  I didn't tie any ribbon on the ring holders because Jonas doesn't like when I tie ribbon to chipboard album...maybe a little too feminine for him...

Aren't my men cute?  Which reminds me I should take the dogs on a walk after I finish this post!  The embellishments on this page come from Joann's and EK success epoxy stickers. 

This last page has more of the Joann's and Craft N Craftin' metal style embellishments.  This was a fun and quick chipboard album to make.  I have lots of scrapbooking to catch up on from October!  So I will be busy these next few days.

Well, it's back to my annual viewing of Pride and Prejudice...the one with Colin Firth.  I love it!  Hope you are having a great day!!

Baby Albums

Well...so much for posting last night!  Came home to find that my laptop had died..worried for a bit, but determined that is the NEW battery my husband bought for it.  It isn't holding a charge.  Luckily, its a Mac so those good people will hook us up and fix the problem.

Well, spent last night taking photos of new product.  It will take me a while to edit the pictures and post them.  For today, I'm going to share two "BABY" chipboard albums that I created for the holiday boutique (that I'm not doing after all...).  Love making baby themed scrapbooks.  There is just so much cute stuff out there.

I used Heidi Grace baby girl paper for this album.  The die cuts were from a batch I bought at the Scrapbook Expo in Ontario and from my Cricut.  Isn't this so cute?  Love it!

Who say's that baby boy things are not as cute as baby girl stuff?  Okay, well maybe not as cute, but still adorable, right?  I used chipboard titles and rub ons from K & Company for this album.  Also, used die cuts that I found at the Ontario Scrapbook Expo and from my Cricut.  The paper...I'll have to get back to you on that...its a set I found at the Expo.  I glittered the diecuts on both albums and inked the edges of the album.

Christmas Part 2

It's been a busy last week!  I had a great weekend...I went to the Ontario Scrapbook Expo with some friends this Saturday and I had a great time.  The best part is that I invested in Copic markers.  I'm excited to play with them.  I have been feeling very inspired to create lately.  

This is the second Christmas themed album I made.  It is posted for sale on my Etsy store.  I made two of these.

 

The album is shaped like a Christmas present.  I made 10 premade layouts to go with it.  I have a few more ideas for Christmas themed layouts...stay tuned!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

I know its a little early for Christmas, but I love Christmas so much that I couldn't help myself!  I had so much fun making this chipboard album.  It's shaped like an ornament!  I bought a Colorbox kit.  It's a premade album.  It's about 5.75 inches wide and tall.  I made 8 double sided layouts.  The paper is fun.

 

Cute, huh?  I was actually humming Christmas songs as I was putting this album together.  I am also making two Christmas gift shaped chipboard albums...I'll share as soon as I'm done.

BOO! Halloween is just around the corner!

Sometimes I wish I lived in an area where there was more changing of the seasons...it's almost October and we have 100+ degree weather!  BUT!  I do love living in Southern California and I especially love it when I hear about other places in the US that are having snow blizzards and minus degree weather during the winter.  I guess its not so bad...

I decided to get a bit into the fall spirit and create a Halloween chipboard album.  This past weekend, I made the pumpkin shaped album and this Halloween one was just as fun to create as that one.  I love getting dressed up and I think kids look so cute in costumes.  I envision this album filled with pictures of kids in cute costumes.  I always wanted to be Strawberry Shortcake as a kid...and it never happened!  What was your favorite costume?  With out further ado...here are some pictures of the Halloween album.

Isn't it cute?  I used paper and embellishments from K & Company and Karen Foster.  The big pumpkin in the front of the album is a die cut from the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge. 

I have my first class coming up on October 16th.  I'm very excited!  I am creating Back To School and Summer Fun kits.  Each participant will receive one of the two kits and I will walk them through creating their kit.  I am really looking forward to it!

Fall Inspired Scrapbooking

It was a great weekend!  I actually carved out a whole afternoon for scrapbooking!  I made four scrapbook pages of Zeus and a premade chipboard album.  I was very productuve!  I was inspired to create a pumpkin shaped premade chipboard album.  I love how it came out.  I only made one, but I am sure to make a few more and I'd like to make a few Halloween ones too.  This was way too fun!  I just posted this for sale on my etsy store at http://www.ckcustomscrapbooks.etsy.com.

I used scrapbook paper and embellishments from various lines...not sure where it all came from, but some of it was K & Company, Making Memories, and Marcella.  I bought the Pumpkin shape as an SVG file from Scrapchicks.com.  I had a lot of fun making this album and I hope it brings a lot of joy to whom ever buys it.
